A high school student-athlete deserves tremendous praise for the dedication, discipline, and character they demonstrate every day.
Long before the crowds arrive on game night, they are balancing demanding academic responsibilities, attending classes, completing homework, studying for exams, and maintaining their grades while also committing countless hours to practices, workouts, film study, and competitions.
They learn valuable lessons about teamwork, leadership, perseverance, and accountability, often sacrificing free time, weekends, and social activities to pursue excellence.
Student-athletes represent their schools and communities with pride, serving as role models for younger students through their work ethic, sportsmanship, and commitment to something greater than themselves.
Whether they are celebrating victories or overcoming setbacks, they continue to show resilience, determination, and a willingness to improve.
Their ability to excel both in the classroom and in athletics while managing the pressures of adolescence is a remarkable achievement that reflects not only their talent, but also their character, integrity, and unwavering dedication to their goals.
I'm a retired Investment Banker. I worked at Franklin Synergy Bank here in town as Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer. Prior to that I travelled the Southeast and called on community banks advising CEOs and CFOs on investment securities and asset-liability management. Married 42 years, with 3 sons who played football and wrestled at Franklin High School. Three absolutely heroic daughters in law and 6 of the most wonderful grandchildren.
